One of two primary airports serving greater Tokyo this airport is located in Ota 14km south of Tokyo. Haneda Airport handles almost all domestic flights to and from Tokyo. More international flights from this airport are however planned.

It is the primary base of Japan's two major domestic airlines, Japan Airlines and All Nippon Airways as well as lost cost carriers Hokkaido International Airlines, Skymark Airlines, Skynet Asia Airlines and StarFly.

It is expected to be able to handle 90 million passengers after its expansion in 2010.
