Known as the 'airway door to Tibet' this airport is 60km south of Lhasa. It is one of the highest airports in the world and was upgraded in 2004.

One international route to Kathmandu operates with Air China but otherwise all flights are domestic flying to Beijing (Air China), Chengdu (Shenzhen Airlines, Sichuan Airlines, Air China), Xi'an (Hainan Airlines) and Chongqing (China Souther Airlines).
